Day 1, Monday: We depart the United States on our overnight flight to Sydney. Day 2, Tuesday: En route to Australia (as we cross the International Date Line, time change moves forward one day). Day 3, Wednesday: We arrive at the Sydney airport and transfer to our hotel, with the balance of the day at leisure. Tonight we enjoy a Welcome Dinner. Overnight Sydney. Day 4, Thursday: Breakfast at the hotel. Today we begin our Jewish Heritage tour of Sydney, beginning with a visit to the Sydney Jewish Museum, and continuing to the Great Synagogue, the Emanuel College, and Temple Emanuel in Woolhara. We then board a deluxe sailing catamaran to tour the harbor where we see the magnificent Opera House, Fort Denisson, the Sydney Harbor Bridge and the Parramatta. We enjoy a buffet lunch before disembarking in Darling Harbor, to spend the remainder of the day at leisure. Overnight Sydney. Day 5, Friday: Breakfast at the hotel. This morning we visit Koala Park for an amazing look at the native animals. We then view the skyline at Milson's Point, tour the Middle Harbor district, visit the renowned beaches at Dee Why Curl, Queenscliff and Manly. We then proceed to North Head for views over Sydney Harbor and Pacific Ocean. This afternoon we tour the Opera House and the Historic Rocks area. This evening we will enjoy Shabbat services at North Shore Temple and a very special Shabbat Dinner. Overnight Sydney. Day 6, Saturday: Breakfast at the hotel. Join Shabbat services at one of the local synagogues this morning, before enjoying the remainder of the day at leisure. Overnight Sydney. Day 7, Sunday: After breakfast we transfer to the airport four our flight to Cairns, the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. Tonight we enjoy dinner together. Overnight Cairns. Day 8, Monday: Breakfast at the hotel. Today we board the Quicksilver for a fabulous tour of the Agincourt Reef. A smorgasbord lunch is served on board. We then have the opportunity to snorkel and swim along the reef, or view the reef from glass bottom boars. Overnight Cairns. Day 9, Tuesday: Breakfast at the hotel. We transfer to the railway station for a scenic journey to Kuranda to visit the Butterfly Sanctuary. We visit the Rjapakai Aboriginal Cultural Centre. Overnight in Cairns. Day 10, Wednesday: Breakfast. We transfer to the airport for our flight to Melbourne. Overnight Melbourne. Day 11, Thursday: Breakfast. This morning we tour delightful Melbourne, including Captain Cook's Cottage and Fitzroy Garden, Melbourne University, Victoria Market, General Monash Statue and a tour of Beth Israel Synagogue. This afternoon we enjoy the fabulous fairy penguins tour. We also meet some koalas and kangaroos. On the way back to Melbourne we enjoy dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight Melbourne. Day 12, Friday: Breakfast. Day at leisure to enjoy Melbourne. In the evenining we join the local community at Temple Beth Israel for Shabbat services. Tonight we enjoy a Shabbat Dinner together. Overnight Melbourne. Day 13, Saturday: Breakfast. We invite you to join us for Shabbat services this morning, or enjoy the full day at leisure. Overnight Melbourne. Day 14, Sunday: Breakfast. Today we drive to the quaint Ballarat, the sight of Australia's big gold rush in the 1850s which brought the first waves of Jewish immigrants. We see an 1860 synagogue and visit a Jewish Museum that details the goldrush days and the Jews as well as meet with representatives of the Jews in the community. We return to Melbourne to visit Mt. Scopus, the War Memorial College and meet with representatives of local Jewish organizations. Overnight Melbourne. Day 15, Monday: Early morning transfer to the airport for our flight back home The Memories Last Forever! |
