Day 1, Monday: We depart New York/Los Angeles to Beijing and cross the International Date Line. Day 2, Tuesday: We arrive in Beijing and meet our private guide at the airport; transfer to our hotel. Welcome Dinner overnight in Beijing. Day 3, Wednesday: Breakfast. Explore the Great Wall at Badaling; Summer Palace; HuTong (the back alley of Beijing), after which we experience a 1920's rickshaw ride. Royal Banquet dinner and overnight in Beijing. Day 4, Thursday: Breakfast. This morning we visit Tian'anmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven. A discussion with a scholar about Jewish culture in modern China is arranged in the afternoon. Beijing duck dinner and overnight in Beijing. Day 5, Friday: Breakfast. We fly to Zhengzhou, a capital city of China 3,500 years ago. We tour the Zhenzhou Museum and enjoy a city tour, overlooking the Yellow River. This evening we enjoy Shabbat service and dinner with a local Jewish family. Overnight in Zhengzhou. Day 6, Saturday: Breakfast. Today we take a boat tour on the Yellow River, and embark on a day tour of Kaifeng, formerly home to a thriving Jewish community. Visit some residences and a large synagogue complex that stood for seven centuries. Tonight we travel to Louyang. Overnight Louyang. Day 7, Sunday: Breakfast. This morning we visit the famous Longmen Grottoes, which is one of the five major grottoes in China. We then tour the White House Buddhist Temple and Shaolin Tmeple, the most important origin of Chinese Kung Fu (martial arts), and watch an authentic Kung Fu performance. Overnight train ride to Xi'an after dinner. Day 8, Monday: Breakfast. Today we view the spectacular Terra Cotta Soldiers, consdered by many as the Eighth Wonder of the World, followed by the Hua Qing Pong, and Xi'an Museum. We indulge ourselves with a multi-course dumpling dinner and a Tang Dynasty Theatrical performance. Overnight in Xi'an. Day 9, Tuesday: Breakfast. After a visit to the City Wall, we will fly to Shanghai. We enjoy a Jewish Heritage tour during the day and Bund Walk at night. Overnight in Shanghai. Day 10, Wednesday: Breakfast. We enjoy a city tour of Shanghai with plenty of time for shopping. Later in the day we experience an exhilarating Chinese acrobatic performance at the Portmen's Theater. Overnight in Shanghai. Day 11, Thursday: Breakfast. Transfer to the airport for our return flight to the United States, arriving the next day. The Memories Last Forever! |
