ITINERARY:

Day 1, Thursday: Depart from New York on our overnight flight to Frankfurt.

Day 2,Friday: Morning arrival in Frankfurt. Meet our tour manager and transfer to our hotel. Our afternoon orientation walking tour includes the Goethe House, the Judengasse Jewish Museum (recalling the Frankfurt ghetto, opened by Napoleon, and where the Rothschild dynasty began) and the adjacent Holocaust Memorial and Old Frankfurt Jewish Cemetery. Tonight we have a briefing on the very special program designed especially for our group, followed by a Shabbat Dinner with members of the Frankfurt Jewish Community at the Jewish Community Restaurant. Overnight in Frankfurt.

Day 3, Saturday: Breakfast at our hotel. We enjoy a late morning walking tour to the Zeil and Hauptwasche and the Flea Market along the River Main. In the afternoon we visit the Jewish Museum in the Rothschild Palais. Evening at leisure. Overnight in Frankfurt.

Day 4, Sunday: Breakfast at our hotel. Today we have a full day tour to Worms (home of Rashi) with its former Judengasse, restored Rashi Synagogue and Rashi Chapel. We visit the 11th Century Mikveh in nearby Speyer, then continue to Heidelberg, with its castle and universtiy, immortalized in Sigmund Romberg's "The Student Prince". Evening at leisure. Overnight in Frankfurt.

Day 5, Monday: After breakfast, we depart for Rothenburg-ob-der Tauber, perhaps the most picture-perfect small town in Germany. Cneteral Europes's most important Jewish scholar, Meir of Rothenburg, settled here in 1246. We visit the restored Judentanshaus (Jewish "Dance House"), the heart of Rothenburg's Jewish comunity since 1390, and the 14th Century Judengasse, Europe's finest preserved ancient Jewish Quarter. Dinner and overnight in Rothenburg-ob-der Tauber.

Day 6, Tuesday: Following breakfast, we drive "The Romantic Road" through some of Europe's most beautiful scenery, towns and villages to Augsburg. Our tour takes us to the Augsburg Synagogue, restored to its 1917 splendor, and continues to Munich, capital of Bavaria. We enjoy dinner with members of the Munich Jewish community at the Jewish Community Center and tour the Munich synagogue. Overnight in Munich.

Day 7, Wednesday: Breakfast at our hotel. Our morning tour brings us to the main sights of Munich, including the White Rose Memorial, honoring students who resisted the Nazis. In the afternoon we visit the former concentration camp at Dachau, which opened in 1933 and where, for 12 years, unspeakable crimes were committed. We visit the camp's Jewish Memorial Chapel before returning to Munich. Overnight in Munich.

Day 8, Thursday: After breakfast, our morning tour takes us to Fuessen, site of the fairy-tale castel of Neuschwanstein, created by Bavaria's King Ludwig 11. Lunch in a local restaurant, then return to Munich. Overnight in Munich.

Day 9, Friday: After breakfast we transfer tot he Munich Airport for our departure flight to Berlin. We meet our local guide at the airport and begin a half-day tour of Berlin. Start at the restored Potsdamer Platz and the Checkpoint Charlie Museum, recalling the notorious Berlin Wall. Visit the New Jewish Museum and the Oranienburgerstrasse Synagogue Museum and view the Brandenburg Gate and the restored glass-domed Reichstag. Visit Germany's new Holocaust Memorial in the heart of the city. Check into our hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Shabbat dinner at our hotel. Overnight in Berlin.

Day 10, Saturday: Breakfast. Shabbat morning at leisure. Our afternoon tour includes the Holocaust Memorial in Wittenberg Platz and a visit to the Kaethe Kollwitz Museum. Overnight in Berlin.

Day 11, Sunday: After breakfast, we meet our local guide at the hotel and begin a full day sightseeing tour. Drive to Potsdam and visit one of the San Souci palaces and parks. Continue to Wannsee and visit the site of the infamous "Final Solution" decision and its memorial museum. Return to Berlin and spend the remainder of the day at leisure. Tonight's Farewell Dinner completes the extraordinary discovery of a Jewish past, present and future! Overnight in Berlin.

Day 12, Monday: Morning flight from Berlin to New York, arriving later the same day.
